Last-Minute Birthday Card!

Yesterday was our wonderful friend Gerry’s birthday, and B and I decided to surprise him with a birthday dinner appearance!  We coordinated with Gerry’s partner Jason, and it was a great success.  But this last-minute plan meant that I didn’t have much time at all to create Gerry’s birthday present.  Since I really only had an hour, I decided to just make Gerry a cute little card.  I had bookmarked this idea from The Crafts Dept. at MarthaStewart.com and used it as inspiration for my card:

I had the paint sample chip in my stash of fun papers, and as soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect.  I love how the card turned out!  I love how the colors get darker with every color block, and the cut out letters are so fun.  You can’t really see it in this picture, but they cast the coolest shadows!  I glued some blue cardstock onto the back of the paint chip to give it a more ‘finished’ look, and then it was done!  Quick and easy with a beautiful outcome—I love it!
